Why do you need a prescription for the morning after pill when you dont need one at the chemist

Response from your pharmacist...

The morning after pill is in the pharmacy schedule called 'pharmacist only' this means that you need to speak with the pharmacist to purchase it. Under NSW regulations this can only happen in person within the store. We can supply this from our Silverwater NSW store without a prescription but via online a prescription is required. ...Deb

I have had an itchy rash that seems to come and go for the last week or so. The doctor has told me to take an antihistamine i got xergic 180 from th chemist but forgot to mention that i am breastfeeding. Could you please advise whether it is safe to take while breastfeeding?

Response from your pharmacist...

Antihistamines are not recommended when breastfeeding because they can go into the breast milk. However, depending on how bad the rash is, how old your child is and how often you are breastfeeding it may be possible to use it. Please give us a call on 1300 DIRECT to discuss this with one of our pharmacists ...Deb

I have a chronic cough resulting from acid reflux which is being treated with nexium. Is there anything I can take to sooth and heal the irritated throat and oesophagus to stop the cough and having to constantly clear my throat which is worse at night. I am also slightly short of breath - is this a side effect of the nexium? I have had all the necessary tests to rule out anything to do with heartlungs and allergies except a dust mite allergy which I do have.

Response from your pharmacist...

Nexium is unlikely to be causing the shortness of breath but if this has just started at the same time you started the Nexium then I would recommend you speak with your doctor about this. You can use any of the regular throat lozenge products to soothe the sore throat while waiting for the Nexium to stop the acid reflux cough. ...Deb
