HiI just bought some Medislim capsules. Ive now realised they shouldnt be taken while breastfeeding. Im wondering if it will be ok with my son he is 11months old Im in the process of weining him so he will feed 2xdaily and 1xnightly.I looked up all the ingredients and they are all safe to take during prg and BF but at much smaller doses. Thanks for your help.
Response from your pharmacist... Hi, Medislim is not recommended to be used while breast feeding, even if you are weaning the baby. You can take Medislim capsules once you have completely weaned your son off the breast milk. ...Sorya

hello...i am a 40 year old female at the moent have a pretty bad UTI. I cant get to the hospital but do have some antibotic prescritions that i havent filled. I was wondering what the drug would be that the doctor would prescribe to me.
Response from your pharmacist... Hello, there are a number of different bacteria that can cause a UTI. So different strains of bacteria are treated with different anti-biotics. I am not sure which strain is causing the infection, so you will need to see your doctor to do a urine test and determine which strain it is. In the meantime you can take Ural to help relieve some of the symptoms. ...Sorya

My son 2 y.o has been taking Redipred 2ml twice a day for the past three days and also amoxicillin and he has been so hyperactive and naughty the last three days he is just not himslef! He has been talking flat out and running around all day and generally a little unusual. Could this be a side effect from the combination of the two? He has had both these before and not had any ill effects.
Response from your pharmacist...
The combination of the two is not going to cause this but restlessness can be a side effect of the Redipred which in a 2 year old could present as hyperactivity. Usually Redipred is only given for 4-5 days max or until the breathing is clear. If his breathing is clear you may wish to speak with his doctor about ceasing it but his hyperactivity could be unrelated and simply an effect of his feeling better after being sick. ...Deb

Hi I am currently immune supressed because of Chemotherapy for Follicular Lymphoma. As a result of this I am now getting frequent Herpes simplex 1 almost continual I am wondering which of the three listed antivirals are the cheapest. eg Zovirax Femvir or Valtrax. I currently have a prescription for Femvir but find the price exhorbitant. I would go back to the Doctor to change my current prescription if necessary. I alsohold an aged pension card. Are any of the above drugs on the PBS. Thanks
Response from your pharmacist...
If you are looking at it purely from cost then the cheapest option is the Zovirax in a generic brand such as Apo (Genrx) Aciclovir which is available at $34.99 for 50 and $39.99 for 90 of the most common 200mg strength as a private prescription. You would need to take more tablets per day but it would still be more economical. I would suggest you speak with your doctor and discuss if this would be suitable for you. This type of antiviral is only covered under the PBS for herpes simplex in the genital area. ...Deb

Im wondering you mention that certain prescription drugs are available in multiple quantities for cheaper prices. An example would be Atenolol Ga Anselol 50mg Tabs 30 http://www.pharmacydirect.com.au/product_details.aspx?invpid=11722 which are available for 5.95 in one pack but 3.33 for three packs 9.99 total. How should the doctors prescription be written so that you can get the three packs for 9.99? I thought that repeats could not be filled all at once. Or does the doctor have to prescribe it as Atenolol 50mg 3 x 30 tablets. Finally if I get medications this way do they still count as PBS medications for adding to my total threshold for PBS Safety Net purposes?
Response from your pharmacist...
Hi Michael, multiple quantities will not qualify for safety net stickers unless you have a government authority prescription because these supplies have to be processed as private prescription supplies. In the case of the anselol the repeats can all be filled at once, unless your doctor has put a specific interval on your prescription, so a script for 30 with repeats is fine. For further information please see the FAQ section in the top left hand section of the webstie or in the shopping help tab. ...Deb
